Dieng Plateau
Ancient temples in the clouds
Travel Guide
Dieng Plateau, meaning 'Abode of the Gods' in Javanese, is a magical highland plateau in Central Java at 2,000+ meters elevation. Often shrouded in mist, it feels like stepping into another world — ancient, mystical, and breathtakingly beautiful.
The plateau is home to some of Indonesia's oldest Hindu temples (7th–9th century), colorful volcanic crater lakes, dramatic landscape, and unique cultural traditions including the famous Dieng Culture Festival.

Best Time to Visit
The dry season (May–September) offers the best visibility. July–August brings the Dieng Culture Festival, one of Java's most spectacular cultural events. Morning visits are recommended as mist clears by mid-morning.
How to Get There
Dieng is located 3–4 hours from Yogyakarta. Our day trips depart early morning to catch the sunrise over the crater lakes. We can also arrange overnight stays.
