Borobudur is the world's largest Buddhist temple and one of the greatest archaeological monuments anywhere on Earth. Built in the 9th century during the Sailendra dynasty, this UNESCO World Heritage Site rises in nine stacked platforms topped with 72 hollow stupas, each containing a statue of the Buddha.

Best Time to Visit
Visit during the dry season (May–October) for clear sunrise views. The monument opens at 4:30 AM for sunrise visitors. Arrive by 4 AM to secure a good position at the upper terrace.
